Our Team
Kelly Shuck President
Kelly started her journey in the agriculture business 37 years ago with Farmers Marketing Corporation/Seeds West, Inc. in Phoenix, Arizona as part of the sales and marketing team that brought to market the 1st improved seeded bermudagrass and introduced the 1st seeded hybrid bermudagrass. In 1997 Kelly took her wealth of warm season knowledge to Seed Research of Oregon/ProSource One as territory manager, where she worked closely with Golf Course Superintendents to develop overseeding alternative programs specific to the needs of the individual golf course. She also established the Bentgrass Users Group, a very successful cooperative discussion group between golf course superintendents. Kelly founded Arizona Seed Technology, Inc. in 2003 to provide the agriculture industry with an honest, more personal approach to their seed needs. When asked about her chosen career, Kelly replied “With a great love of nature, what better profession could there be than to be on a job site, helping my customers beautify our planet with living, oxygen giving, climate cooling turfgrass.”
Helen Lucas CauthenVice President
Helen has over 45 years of experience in warm and cool season turf and forage grasses. Helen began her career with Valley Seed Company in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1985 Helen was asked to become Vice President of the newly founded Farmers Marketing Corporation. She continued in that capacity when they merged to become Seeds West, Inc. She was instrumental in taking the 1st improved turf type bermudagrasses to a global market. In 1997 as Vice President, she added to the successful cool season recognition of Seed Research of Oregon by creating their warm season division, specializing in improved turf type grasses and marketing to global distributors. In 2009, Helen joined forces with her sister Kelly at Arizona Seed Technology, Inc. to expand into the international market. When asked about her chosen career, Helen replied “ I did not choose my career, it chose me and I have forever enjoyed working with natural products that beautify the world, improve the air we breathe and the temperature of the surrounding area.
Lance ShuckTurfgrass Specialist
With 30 years of experience in the industry working for Ewing Irrigation, Lance created the seed and turf products program to help diversify and expand their offering. Once that was established, he developed an erosion control product line to compliment the seed and turf products. With a focus towards organics, he then spent 15 years training and selling those product lines, all while studying and learning soil science. This became a passion of his to help clients solve soil issues by offering soil testing and treatment recommendations. In 2021 Lance joined Kelly and Helen at Arizona Seed Technology Inc. to share his knowledge and ensure end-users experience a successful grow-in by using soil science.
