Where is your wedding and when are you getting married (and performing your first dance)?
We are getting married on April 9th, 2016 at the Marina del Rey Marriot.
How did you meet?
We met in Las Vegas at a nightclub. Jenna was studying for the BAR and her friend convinced her to go out. We met through mutual friends on Christmas night, and have been together for five years so far.
What is your first dance song? Why did you choose it for your wedding? Does it have any significance for your first dance?
“Fly Me to the Moon” is our first song for our wedding dance and it has significance because it we played it for Jenna’s birthday in New York when we got engaged! Mark made a video slideshow and that song played in the background. The other song we’re dancing to is a Persian song and we picked it because we really liked it.
What type of first dance are you working on for your wedding?
We are doing two dances for our first dance. For the Persian song, we are learning to dance the rumba and the tango. For our Frank Sinatra song, we are swing dancing.
Who is your dance instructor?
Tayler is our dance teacher and we think she’s fantastic.
What is your favorite part about taking wedding dance lessons?
We really like dancing. (And laughing at each other.)
Do you have a favorite move that you’re working on during your dance lessons? If so, what is it?
We really enjoy learning lifts and aerials.
What do you find most challenging about the process of taking wedding dance classes?
Leading and following!
Do people know you’re taking wedding dance lessons or is it a surprise?
It’s a surprise. No one knows that we’re taking dance lessons.
What inspired you to take dance lessons?
We just liked to dance, but we also really wanted to wow our wedding guests.
Was one of you hesitant? Or did you both equally want to take lessons for your first dance?
We both wanted to take dance lessons.
How do dance classes compare to other parts/aspects of planning your wedding?
It’s the most fun!
While taking wedding dance lessons, has it inspired you to take other dance lessons for other styles? Do you want to pursue more?
Yes, we’d love to take more dance lessons are learn more dance styles. We are really interested in learning Cha Cha, Tango, Swing, Salsa, and Lindy hop.
What was your first impression coming in for dance classes and what is your impression now? How has it changed?
We were hesitant to come in for wedding dance classes because we didn’t know what to expect and it’s changed because we have the most wonderful dance teacher. She’s very patient.
